The Progression of a Click-Through

I was thinking about how I get to weird websites sometimes...

1. I start on my facebook page
2. I view the Oprah teaser video for Mondays show about Zion Ranch. She asks if their life is anything like the show "Big Love" and they say no
3. I google Big Love and end up at the shows website
4. From there I go to Margene's Blog and see a link under the section "My Favorite Websites"
5. That takes me to http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com/ where I find tons and tons of comments about this image:

That's how!

Thanks Char Char

I get a lot of emails from my Char Char (featured below)

that range anywhere from god and being all you can be to protection yourself as a women. Once in a while they strike me. I feel as though I am a 5 year old sneaking sugary cereal in the middle of the night right now. While we have all long ago accepted that that society for children contains cells phone, video games youtube, and facebook, I wonder... are they still capable of experiencing the same enjoyment, does it even matter because there is no past point of reference? Will they ever make a real mud pie? I know you must be saying "oh my god, she's not even old enough to be saying this" but I am a kid of the 80s and I loved playing in the dirt.

It's a beautiful and sunny day in Hollywood today, I want to go outside but I don't even know what to do outside so I'm writing this instead. It's 2pm, Ricky is on his computer listening to his high school band, Shane is sleeping on the couch, and Christian is sleeping in Shane's bed (the breakfast I made him this morning is really cold).

Here is a little taste of a few of the statements I enjoyed in that email:
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing....that's why! No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
